Healthcare Design and the Personal Touch

Tuesday, July 29th, 2014

According to a recent article in Healthcare Design, focus in the healthcare industry has been shifting to and sharpening on something unexpected: the visitor experience. While patients have been and remain the top priority for any healthcare facility, more attention is being paid to their loving families and friends who often have to end up spending just as much time in the hospital as the patient themselves does, and who are a vital part of the patient’s treatment process. In order to make visitor centers more welcoming, the healthcare industry is putting a new emphasis on interior design.

The waiting rooms of yesterday had far too much in common with the rest of the hospital: they were spare and sterile. Now, they are becoming more unique; designers are committed to customizing and personalizing the experience as much as possible for visitors. This is leading to less traditional layouts, with different kinds of seating options (think roll-out sofas and reclining chairs) so that everyone can be comfortable, as well as special, additional features to waiting areas, such as meditation centers or reading rooms.

Another aspect of the visitor experience that healthcare centers are taking into consideration is that the family and friends of a patient have to make sacrifices in order to spend time with their loved one. To help with this, hospitals are also moving towards creating technology-friendly areas for people to work in, whether on their laptop, tablet, or even their smart phones so that they do not fall behind on their responsibilities while they are at the hospital.

Edwards & Hill Office Furniture knows that in order for your business to perform at the top of the pack, you have to start with the essentials: quality furniture. This publication is primarily focused on the commercial furniture industry. In the magazine Tony and Hans are recognized for their 15+ years of hard work and success growing Edwards & Hill Office Furniture.

Tony and Hans office furniture dealership has no alignment with any major manufacturer and that comes with many advantages.

Early on in their business ventures, Tony and Hans never imagined they would be office furniture dealers. They originally owned a Maryland communications company called Edwards & Hill Communications. The communications company focused on event management for corporate clients.

The young entrepreneurs got into the office furniture industry in an unexpected way. They ordered six-chairs for the U.S. Army.

This happened 12 years ago. Since then, Tony and Hans have managed a thriving office furniture dealership in Maryland.

This Friday September 27th, Tony and Hans will move their company to a new, bigger and state of the art, showroom and warehouse in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.

This expansion was possible because of their hard work and utmost level of professionalism, but could not have been accomplished without the great staff at Edwards & Hill Office Furniture.

The two business leaders have been involved with some of the largest interior design projects in the region, such as the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. During this project, Edwards & Hill Office Furniture installed 2,000 guest rooms with furniture, fixtures and equipment.

Edwards & Hill Office Furniture can offer your business interior design services, furniture and installations no matter where your business is located in the United States.

Tony and Hans humble beginnings allowed them to successfully carve out their own niche. They have fresh eyes for every interior design project.

Just take a look at the Maryland Live! Casino back of house furniture Tony and Hans led the team as they supplied and installed the furniture in record time.  This is just one example of the excellent customer service Edwards & Hill Office Furniture provides time and time again to their clients.

When things need to be done, Tony and Hans get them done because they are customer focused. They want to make a difference to their customers by providing them the best interior design experiences.

As the years have gone by, that customer focus has helped Tony and Hans expand their list of suppliers. Edwards & Hill Office Furniture specializes in Office, hospitality and healthcare furniture projects.

The big move to the new facility happens this Friday. The place is a 7,200 square foot location that features a working showroom, dedicated showroom, library and warehouse.

Bed And Breakfast Inns: What are the Best Hospitality Furniture Items?

Monday, June 3rd, 2013

Starting a prosperous Bed & Breakfast business is never easy but with the right interior design and amenities, you can offer guests everything they want and more.

Most guests decide to stay and return to bed & breakfast inns based on appearance and the “at home” feeling.

It is crucial to your business success to give guests a good first impression so that they will make reservations time and time again.

Edwards & Hill Office Furniture is here to design a warm and inviting bed & breakfast for you.

The walls and hospitality furniture should be warm colors.

Open space layouts should be avoided to give guests a reason to explore your bed & breakfast in and out. You can accomplish this feel of exploration with captivating wall paintings, luxurious lounging areas and vibrant drapes/curtains.

These elements will give the bed & breakfast a soft feel that helps guests feel right at home. More importantly choosing a theme for your bed & breakfast will help you to create a better flow with the design and hospitality furniture pieces.

Ideally, guests want bed & breakfast inns to feel like home. The bed & breakfast inn should be known as a quiet retreat for guests.

Here are great hospitality furniture items you can purchase for your bed & breakfast inn:

-Victorian Style Furniture

-Cottage Style Furniture

-Wicker Chairs/ Seating for porches and bedroom balconies

-Victorian Style Dining Chairs

-Four Poster Beds

-Bedside lamps

What should be inside the guest rooms?

The guest rooms should be furnished with antique or classic furniture – beds, dressers, desks and chairs should have a timeless feel rather than a trendy feel.

Remember, bed & breakfast designs are all about maintaining visual balance that never goes out of style.

For the bedding, place accent pillows on top of crisp, clean linens. The better sleep your guests enjoy at your bed & breakfast, the more memorable and reputable your inn will become.

There should be absolutely no clutter in the guest rooms. Bedside tables are a must for de-cluttering and give guests the impression of having a spacious guest room. Ergonomic seating is also a must for guests to lounge in the comfort of their private rooms.

Warm. Inviting. Thoughtful.
